With 10 different positionals, the Renegades have the second largest Roster in Blood Bowl, just 1 shy of the ridiculous list that is the Old World Alliance, so where better than to start with the Renegade Human Linemen?
They are completely identical to their regular Human counterparts but crucially come with Mutation skills in their Primary access, setting them quite significantly apart. Yes, they are 0-12 instead of 0-16 but unless your Human opponents are running 16 linemen that’s not really going to be a factor. Despite the extra primairy skill category and a good one at that, they cost the same too at 50k, so you’re getting a bit more for your money with these rebellious rhapscallions.
Overall they perform a very similar role, they mark up, take hits and provide assists where needed, the usual Linemen stuff. They’re pretty flexible too, mutations access means you can go in some interesting ways if you want to, although some of their teammates are more suited to things like blitzing and moving the ball around.
Build List:
Renegade Human Lineman Base Stats:
| Qty | Cost | MA | ST | AG | PA | AV | Skills | Primary | Secondary |
| 0-12 | 50k | 6 | 3 | 3+ | 4+ | 9+ | None | GM | AS |
Randomised Skills:
Mutations rocks for Random skills, there’s not a lot in there that isn’t inherently useful and the only real duds are Very Long Legs and Iron Hard Skin, although at least the latter might come into play at some point, even if it’s not great. General is also very good for random too, lots of good and useful skills in there and considering the low cost of these fellas, it’s probably worth a punt at either of these categories. Considering a few of your other players can get a bit bloaty, getting some cheap level ups is well worth it, especially as they’re not going to be swimming in SPP.
Regular Renegade | Renegade Human Linemen Build
Primaries: Block/Wrestle, Kick/Dirty Player, Fend
Secondaries: Guard, Dodge
Characteristics: ST
Quite a simple one, you’re gonna have a few of these lying around so some standard, solid players will be useful. Block goes first, it keeps them upright more often and gives you a decent chance to knock down opposing linemen. A good alternative is Wrestle, especially in Block heavy leagues to give you an option to drag those pesky Dwarves or even Blitzer players down to the ground, (ready for a boot to the sternum!).
After that, grab yourself at least one Kicker as well as a Dirty Player for a completely different style of Kicking.
If you find yourself with a Linemen with a bunch of SPP, Guard is an obvious choice to help the rest of the team, or Dodge to be annoying! If you somehow get a massive amount Strength is really the only worth considering, if you don’t roll that 15+, I’d go for the Secondary instead.
This will probably be your primary Lineman build, they don’t level up particularly outside of MVPs. Make sure you keep an eye on the opposing teams when thinking about taking Wrestle or Block.
Disruptor | Renegade Human Linemen Build
Primaries: Block, Foul Appearance, Prehensile Tail, Tackle
Secondaries: Guard, Dodge
Characteristics: ST
You might have noticed the lack of Mutations on the previous build, well, this time we’re going to add two! These are basically Renegade knock-off versions of Bloaters, as we’ve given them Foul Appearance for some anti-block shenanigans. It doesn’t go off often, but enough that it can disrupt the odd play or force your opponent to spend a re-roll or two more than they’d like.
Prehensile Tail is good fun too, unlike Tentacles which really needs a high-strength player to use properly, PT is a flat -1 to a Dodge roll, which is going to be particularly useful against AG3+ players who like to run away (think Stunty teams, Amazons, Humans). These guys are MV6 so they should be able to get into areas where this is useful and combined with Tackle gives you something to use against the more manoeuvrable teams.

Overall a simple and effective player for the Renegades, doing what all good Linemen do and taking the hits so your better players don’t have to. Keep them simple and cheap and they’ll do what they need to do!
