Eagle Warrior Linewomen

Eagle Warrior Linewomen are the typical Amazon player, sporting their human-esque statline accompanied by the signature AV8+ and of course the Dodge skill. They are, entirely unchanged from the BB2 and Teams of Legends rosters and remain the fragile yet hard to knock down piece we all know and love/hate, at least until Tackle starts popping up on their opponents. Their development remains much the same too, although you’re no longer relying on rolling doubles to get Strength skills should you wish, but Amazon Linewomen aren’t the easiest to gather SPP on, so you might find your gals with only 1 or 2 skills at most if they survive that long.

Yes, despite Dodge, you’ll be replacing your Eagle Warrior Linewomen fairly frequently thanks to AV8+, especially when you start reaching mid-to-high Team Values and you meet the Amazon’s worst nightmare, Tackle and Mighty Blow. You’re also going to have a lot more of them than normal thanks to the roster changes, seeing as the team lost 2 Blitzers who will need to be replaced by two standard Linewomen. Thankfully, they’re pretty cheap for what you get at 50k a pop and they should survive your first set of games, with hopefully the odd MVP too.

Build List:

Randomised Skills:

You’ll have enough of these gals to be able to afford a few Random rolls, and with their SPP gains relatively low (scoring will probably be done by the Blitzers or Throwers), it’s not a bad shout if you’re stuck just shy of picking a Primary. Their only Primary access is General so not much choice there, but there’s not much here that’s bad. Realistically you’re looking for Block or Wrestle or even Tackle, but Dirty Player would be pretty good on a cheap player who can 3+ dodge into a good fouling position. You’ll be needing Kick anyway so that’s a good one too, Fend will stop you from getting bogged down by Dwarves early on and Sure Hands could give you a cheap ball carrier, leaving your Thrower free to do… something else I guess. Strip Ball is also pretty good, it’s likely you won’t want this on your Blitzers who really want to be killing things, so it’s worth having that threat once they create the space to hit the ball carrier, at least until they have Sure Hands.

Pro is fine I guess but not massively worthwhile, Dauntless could be fun and useful to surprise a Chaos Warrior or Big ‘Un.

The only real stinkers are Pass Block, Kick Off Return and Frenzy. The first two just, aren’t awful but don’t offer much compared to the rest. Frenzy, unless you already have Block, is just going to get you into trouble, especially when you’re going to have very little Guard.

Line of Scrimmage Duty | Eagle Warrior Linewomen

Primaries: Block/Wrestle, Fend, Tackle
Secondaries: Guard
Characteristics: ST/AG/MV

These gals have one job, take hits on the line! For that, you need the ever-useful Block and Dodge combo or alternatively, if you think you’ll be seeing a lot of Block on the line Wrestle and Dodge. Both are the core of this build, with Block giving them some offensive capability once things get a little messy while also keeping them on their feet and thus safe from fouls. Wrestle meanwhile is great for dragging down Dwarves and can be useful at putting other Blodge species on the ground. Fend means you won’t have to dodge away should you survive the first hit, and gets even better vs Tackle when doing so is even risker.

If you’ve got the SPP, then Guard is a must on Amazon Linewomen, as even with the Strength 4 Blockers, Amazons are still a Strength 3 team, so it’s great for generating more 2 die blocks or denying your opponents.

If somehow you manage to get a 4th skill, something like Dauntless if you find yourself up against lots of Nurgle, Orcs and Chaos Chosen, or Diving tackle if you’re finding yourself being Dodge’d away from. If you can somehow afford it, then grabbing any of the Characteristics is a good time, with the exception of AV. Strength will of course be the best option if you roll well, but you’ll get use out of MV or AG buffs.

I’d look for at least 3 of these, so that you have enough to set up on Defense, and then you can pair up some Guard wielding Blockers for offence.

Ball Hawk | Eagle Warrior Linewomen

Primaries: Wrestle, Tackle, Strip Ball, Frenzy
Secondaries: Side-Step, Mighty Blow, Diving Tackle
Characteristics: ST/AG/MV

Your Blizters really are going to be dedicated damage deals with their easy Strength access, so you’ll be lacking a proper Ball Blitzer. Wrestle here is obvious as most carriers will be taking Block early on to protect them, then you’ll need Tackle to deal with Dodge. Sticking with Primaries, Strip Ball is great if there’s no Sure Hands and Frenzy will let you hit again, should you find your first hit unsuccessful.

In terms of Secondaries, Side-Step is awesome and lets you stick around the Ball Carrier, while also protecting you from being Surfed if you’re attacking a side cage. Mighty Blow, if you can afford it by this point, is a nice addition, hopefully putting the carrier out of action with a stun or better, so that they have a harder time recovering the ball. Diving Tackle is also good, if you somehow don’t get the ball down, then couple with Side-Step means you can make their attempts to Dodge away pretty risky!

Seeing as you’ll probably have at least 3 on the line, you’ll have at least another 3 Amazon Linewomen to play with, so I think making two of these (one for each flank, paired up with a Blitzer) is a good shout.

In terms of Characteristics, again all 3 are very good. MV turns makes them a potent threat from further away, so they take on a very good Sweeper role. AG and ST means they can get to their prey easier, and you’ll need less support with Strength 4.

Foul/Kicker | Eagle Warrior Linewomen

Primaries: Dirty Player/Kick, Block
Secondaries:
Characteristics:

Simple build, take either Kick or Dirty Player depending on which you’d like them to do, or even both! Pair it up with Block so they’re still pretty useful when they don’t have a good fouling target and can take a hit themselves too. Fouling is pretty prevalent in the new ruleset, so having the option is good, especially if you’re lacking killer players.

Keep them cheap and cheerful otherwise!

Not much else to say about the Amazon Linewomen! With AG3+ and Dodge, they’re pretty effective in most roles and early on will put a serious shift in. They’re going to need Wrestle or Block to have a hope of surviving later on, but they’re relatively cheap for what you get so replacing them isn’t going to put a massive dent in your finances. With how many you can take and the fact you’re going to be taking 2 more of them compared to BB2, you’ll need to look at the gaps in your team and fill those in, especially being 2 Blitzers down now. SPP isn’t going to come easily, so if you can, give them the odd Touchdown to help them out, which at AG3+ shouldn’t be too difficult should the situation arise.

Vampire Thrower

Probably the closest in terms of the old vanilla Vampire player, is the Vampire Thrower. For 110k, you get the classical statline of Strength 4 and AG2+ along with a very, very nice PA2+ and Pass for good measure. The Vampire Thrower very much does what it says on the...
