A5 115k, the Chaos Chosen Troll is by far the cheapest of the 3 available Chaos Big Guys. For the reduced rate, you lose a point of AG, a point of MV, Thick Skull and then gain Really Stupid as your negative trait. You then gain Projectile Vomit, which is fine, but more importantly, you gain Regeneration, which is definitely a good reason to take him over the others. Your Beastmen are likely going to be the ones winning you games, so having an expensive, 0-1 player you don’t need to save the Apothecary for is pretty useful, even if they need to be babysat more than the Ogre and Minotaur.
The Troll very much fills the same role as the Ogre, with his low Movement and Break Tackle only giving them 3+ dodges compared to 2+, he’s going to be very static and thus will likely fulfil a roadblock role, so he’s not really comparable to the more mobile, punchier Minotaur.
So the comparison is, is the 25k + Regen worth the loss of mobility and lack of independence? Well, that’s up to you. The Ogre is definitely the better player at first, and Thick Skull while not an amazing skill, does keep him out of the injury/subs box more often than not. Really Stupid can be mitigated to essentially be the same as Bone Head, but he’ll require constant support and that’s something your opponents will be thinking about, especially the experienced ones. It’s not difficult to do and some Stand Firm Blockers will really help with this, but that’s a fair ways off and savvy opponents will find ways to remove the Troll’s friends.
It’s worth bearing in mind he’s the only Big Guy you can include in a TV1000 list and keep on 4 Blockers plus two rerolls, which is a big bonus in shorter leagues.

At 115k, it’s slightly more tempting to roll on the Strength or Mutations table but… I’d skip it personally.
Troll Roadblock| Chaos Chosen Troll Build
Primaries: Guard, Stand Firm, Tentacles, Grab, Claw, Break Tackle
Secondaries: Block, Pro
Characteristics: ST, MV
This is pretty much the Ogre Roadblock build so the usual commentary applies here.
Block is really needed on the Troll for some added reliability, not just for dishing out hits but he suffers the most from rolling Both Downs as he’ll be easy to isolate should he do so, making the Stupid roll much harder. Guard/Stand Firm and Tentacles will then give him utility even when not activated, so if you’re low on re-rolls or just feel he’s better off doing nothing turn, these skills will really help him in that support role. Stand Firm in particular is really useful on the Troll, as he can’t as easily get pushed away from his teammates.
Grab is just very good on these Big Guys, being able to create space or force opponents into undesirable areas where your Blockers can get more hits in. Claw is lovely vs other Chaos or similarly high AV teams. Break Tackle is here as it’s still partially useful, it’s a 3+ vs the 2+ of the Ogre/Minotaur so while worse in BB3/2020 than the older rules, it can still be ok for a last-ditch Blitz. It’s the low movement that really makes BT less worthwhile, 4 movement is not a lot so you might just not have enough range to hit anything, but it’ll help get back into the fight if he’s been dragged away, although watch for the Stupid rolls there.
Therefore, I’d prioritise Pro over Break Tackle for the Troll. It’s nice to have for the Mino/Ogre but it’s massively more valuable on the Troll, especially if you absolutely must make 4+ Stupid Rolls.

Overall the Troll is mostly a cheaper, less reliable version of the Ogre that requires a bit more support. Even so, it’s a good option, especially in a shorter league where you want all 4 Blockers + the Big Guy from game one. Keep him next to his friends and he’ll get work done.
That’s it for the Chaos Chosen Troll build! Check out our guides for, Beastman Runner Linemen, Chaos Chosen Blockers, Chaos Ogre and Chaos Minotaur.
