I don’t think many of us expected Chaos to get a bunch of new big guys, but more options are very welcome and the Chaos Chosen Ogre certainly opens up some different options. For 10k less than the Minotaur, you get an extra point in armour, PA5+, Bonehead instead of Unchannelled Fury and no Horns or Frenzy. So where the Minotaur wants to be actively hitting things all the time and is excellent at making space, the Chaos Chosen Ogre is more of a typical roadblock/support Big Guy. What you lose in reliability you gain in control, as while Bone Head is worse than Fury (you lose your tackle zones), the Ogre isn’t going to Frenzy himself out of position and AV10+ is tough enough to see the Ogre through a ton of games without injury. Where the Minotaur can operate alone, the Ogre is very much that central anchor for the team, grouped up with a couple of Blockers to either protect the ball or break lines.
This issue is, for 10k more, the Minotaur is a more focused, reliable piece and Fury means if you use your Big Anchor build, skills like Tentacles and Prehensile Tail still activate, whereas a Bone Head failure turns these skills off. This means you need to really consider when to activate your Chaos Ogre and there will be turns where doing nothing with him is better than attempting that 1/6.
However, as mentioned you get far more control compared to the Minotaur, who wants to hit things all the time and their value comes from hitting things. The Ogre, meanwhile, is easier to use, can act far more independently than say, the Troll, and gives the rest of the team something to work with. The Ogre can also move more freely than the Mino as well, seeing as the latter only really wants to move whilst Blitzing, the Ogre doesn’t need to make a 4+ just to move, saving your Blitz for other, potentially more areas of the pitch. Overall, the Ogre has a bit more versatility and arguable is the most helpful of the three, sitting between the cheap and cheerful Troll, and the more expensive but more potent at killing Minotaur.
Oh and he has Throw Team Mate… which he has no targets for.

Very rarely are Random skills worth it on Big Guys, I guess you could cheeky roll on the Strength table but, 140k is a lot to replace should you roll Strong Arm.
Ogre Roadblock | Chaos Chosen Ogre Build
Primaries: Guard, Stand Firm, Tentacles, Grab, Claw, Break Tackle
Secondaries: Block, Pro
Characteristics: ST, MV
This is pretty much the same as the Anchor Minotaur build, but in some respects, it’s better on the Ogre. Being AV10+ means if you do get knocked down, you’re less likely to be removed. Not only that, as you don’t have Frenzy, you can get Grab!
Of course, the initial combo will usually start with Block, for more knockdowns and better protection, followed by Guard and Stand Firm to complete the full Roadblock look. Then you can look at Tentacles or Prehensile Tail to keep the enemy close by. Despite it being less effective in this edition, I’d go for Tentacles personally, as I find it works better with Grab which you’ll be afterwards and it has better value on Strength 5 vs your Strength 4 Blockers. You can also get Prehensile Tail on those nearby Blockers too, so if they do escape, they’ll still be hit with the -1.
Then you can look at Claw for some AV10+ smashing and Break Tackle to get away from any sacrificial linemen bogging you down, as the Ogre can dodge on a 2+ compared to the Trolls 3+ Pro is useful on any Big Guy and has more value this edition by being a 3+ rather than a 4+ and can help you mitigate the Bone Head rolls.
If you’re flush with SPP, gunning for a Strength 6 is always good, but Movement isn’t bad either. Personally, I’d try to roll for the Strength buff then pick a secondary if the roll isn’t high enough.

The Chaos Chosen Ogre is pretty simple compared to the Minotaur, so generally, I’d build him in that Roadblock Support manner. You want him to still be useful even when he’s not doing anything so getting Guard/Tentacles is key here as well as learning when and where to activate him.
That’s it for the Chaos Chosen Ogre build! Check out our guides for, Beastman Runner Linemen, Chaos Chosen Blockers, Chaos Troll and Chaos Minotaur.
