Which Blood Bowl Team Should I Choose? – Literally Everyone on the planet
I’ve noticed on /r/bloodbowl that a certain question crops up rather often, be it as a new thread or in the comments when discussing teams. That question is, as I’m sure you all know: “Which Blood Bowl Team Should I Choose?”
This is actually a rather hard question to answer, there are so many variables when it comes to choosing for yourself and helping somebody choose their Blood Bowl team. What kind of style do you want to play? Do you prefer a certain theme? If you’re playing tabletop do you prefer certain miniatures to others? Are you a returning or new player? There’s quite a lot to think about, particularly if you’re planning on using the team for quite a while or investing actual money into a plastic kit to build and paint.
Now, normally we’d look at each team and go from there, but I’m not going to do that. Instead, I’m going to break this down into some categories in the blogs following this one and try and see how we can really help with that all-important question.
So to try and get some answers I want to look at the following:
Playstyle:
How you want to play the game and what teams suit which tactics and strategies. I’m not just going to sort these into “Bashy, Agility, Stunty” categories either, I want to look at how exactly teams can play differently and the nuances between them. This will be the longest one and I may even break it down into the styles individually.
Coach Experience:
Is the Coach new to the game or are they a grizzled veteran with many GFI’s to their name? Does the coach have a preference in style or are they looking to switch things up? There are definitely some teams that work well in the hands of any coach while some need a little bit more knowledge of their nuances.
Competition Style:
Is this team good for a long term League or is it a Tournament? Is the team in a Division of fresh teams or is everyone starting at a high TV? A lot of teams play rather differently depending on the format, some can excel in short term competitions, while also suffering in longer ones.
Themes & Miniatures:
This one is a little more subjective, but I want to look at Miniature availability and which teams have the strongest themes. Not all of the teams are out yet if you’re looking solely at Games Workshop’s minis, so that’s something to think about as well if you’re looking at either GW competitions or NAF ones.
I should be putting one of these out and anymore I think of hopefully once a week, either Friday or on the weekend, with the idea being the full set will be out before Season Three of GRUMBBL. Then hopefully we can help a little with that age-old question: “Which Blood Bowl Team Should I Choose?”.
