The Elven Union Blitzer is my favourite player. They’re just one of those Blood Bowl pieces that are plain SOLID and do their thing so well and help their team immensely. They might not have the flair, power, or game-changing potential like Wardancers or Witch Elves, but they’re a ridiculously reliable player that gets stuck in and does their job without fuss.
For 115k they are on the costly side, but you’re always going to want to get both of them in a Union team. Block & Side Step puts them just one advancement away from the mighty Blodgestep, turning them into amazing ball harassers and surgical strikers, as well as pretty good ball carriers if the Catchers have been put out of commission. They’re the least fragile player in the Union team with AV8+ too, meaning they might just survive the course of the league when combined with Blodge keeping them up. Unfortunately you do only get two of them, meaning you don’t quite have the flexibility to build one or two of them them in weird and wonderful ways, rather, they tend to fully embrace their Blitzer name.

The Ball Harasser/Defensive Support | Elven Union Blitzer Build
Primaries: Dodge, Tackle/Diving Tackle, Jump Up,
Secondaries: Guard, Mighty Blow
Characteristics: ST/AG/MV
This Elf is all about getting to the opposing ball carrier and sticking to them on defence, then transitioning to a support role on offence, where they keep your Catchers and Throwers safe. Without question, Dodge is the first thing you get as Blodgstep makes them royal pain for pretty much anyone to put down and means they can reposition with ease.
Tackle and Diving Tackle let’s you take down and harass those pesky Dodge players, the former coming first if your league is full of AG2+/Dodge, the latter if you find yourself in a more punchy league. If they do get knocked down, then Jump Up is super useful for either striking back, or getting them where they need to be quick.
Guard of course is great for Elves and will let your other Blitzer hit with fewer risks, while Mighty Blow gives you some much-needed damage potential. Early on these players tend to do will in the SPP department, so definitely grab both of these if you find yourself with plenty of it to spend. If you have a lot, then rolling for a Characteristic is definitely worth the roll as ST/AG & MV are all worth it on the Elven Union Blitzer. ST or AG of course are ideal, but an MV8 Blitzer is damn good and they’ll fly around the pitch causing all sorts of trouble.
On defence, they’re going to be buzzing around the cage and ball carrier, getting stuck in and looking for chances to either hit the ball carrier or stand next to them to force Dodge rolls. They can do this very well with Block/Dodge/Side Step, with the first two skills keeping them up, the SS keeping them next to the carrier. On offence, they’re going to be marking off key players to stop them hitting your other players and supporting your team cage/screen where needed.
You could easily have two of these guys, perhaps sprinkling in some Dauntless and Fend for some adding utility.
The Striker | Elven Union Blitzer Build
Primaries: Dodge, Frenzy, Tackle, Dauntless, Jump Up
Secondaries: Mighty Blow
Characteristics: ST/AG/MV
If you want to try and cause some more mayhem, then having a more hitting focused player could do the trick. For all intends and purposes, this is better armoured Witch Elf with the addition of Frenzy giving you opportunities to surf players and double up on blocks vs key players or ball carriers.
Dodge of course is first, then either Mighty Blow or Frenzy next depending on how you’re doing for SPP. I’d be tempted by Mighty Blow first just try and keep the SPP coming, followed by Frenzy for some surf potential which will be fairly safe to do thanks to Side Step. Partnered with your other Blitzer when they have Guard, they’ll make for a pretty frightening duo! If you can roll ST, they’ll be even scarier too, but MV and AG will be very good if you roll them.
These elves are going to be all about hitting and removing key players so I’d add Dauntless into the mix if you find yourself up against STR4 players, either to try and remove them with a lucky roll or to make some space for your other Blitzer to get in. Jump Up just good and means they can hit after being knocked down, or just move away to a better position.

It’s a shame you can only get two of these, but they’ll both put in a great shift and are just an overall solid player than really fulfils the Blitzer role. I’d either get two of the first build, especially if you’re newer to the team, then maybe experiment with the 2nd if you’re a bit more experienced. They’re very much the workhorse of the Union team, hitting the opposition where it hurts and keeping the ball carrier from moving freely. Combined with an offensively placed Catcher, the Blitzers can work the ball free and aim for a cheeky steal if you use them well.
