WELL, THAT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE!

I certainly wasn’t expecting a Blood Bowl 3 announcement quite this early on but yet, here we are with the next digital iteration of Blood Bowl on the horizon. If you haven’t seen it yet check out the Blood Bowl Twitter page for the current details (of which there aren’t many, we should hopefully hear more in the coming weeks/months)

So far there’s been mixed reactions and I can certainly see why. Blood Bowl 2 doesn’t yet contain the entire team roster as we’re still missing Chaos Pact, an official team! League management is rather limited and the GRUMBBL commissioners are constantly complaining about Cyanide’s poor implementation of certain features (Lack of control over the tournament brackets is a big one for us!) The game really isn’t that old either, it came out in September 2015 and we only got the legendary edition in September 2017, so in fact we’ve only had the “complete-ish” game for 2 years.

However, since then we’ve had a revamp of the tabletop rules with some great updates (the new MVP rule being a favourite of course, oh and new Halfling positionals!!!!) so getting those into the digital game is a priority for a lot of coaches. The above-mentioned issues with the League Management as well as some UI changes would be great as well, alongside an improved AI and a better single player experience would be greatly appreciated by players I’m sure. I think a lot of us would have been happy with BB2 getting an update and we really don’t want to have to fork out more cash to buy DLC teams for a THIRD TIME!

Will all that said, I’ve created a personal wishlist of what I’d like to see from Blood Bowl 3.

All teams released on launch – Yes this is highly unlikely to happen, but at the very least I’d like to see all the “official” teams released on launch (Sorry Kislev & Brettonia!). As above, the last thing we all want to do is spend even more money unlocking teams that we’ve already bought twice. 

Some form of Twitch integration – Here at GRUMBBL we like to stream as many of our games as possible, in fact our Semi and Grand finals are incredibly popular within our little community so it would be nice to see something Twitch related going on with BB3, I’m sure a lot of the top Blood Bowl streamers would love this as well.

Current TableTop Rules/Better and more customisable league management – Bit of an obvious one here, we really need better management options and I’d love to see some of the crazy rules that Blood Bowl 2016 put into the new digital version.

Better single player experience – Multiplayer should be the priority, it’s where Blood Bowl is at it’s best, however, there’s nothing like a good comp stomp now and then. Eternal League was a good step towards it but we need better AI to really make it fun and not a distraction while we’re waiting for the other league games to be played that week!

Unlockable Touchdown animations – Mentioned in the subreddit a few times, I absolutely LOVE this idea. My only worry is that they might be put behind a microtransaction or even a loot box, please no! That being said, making your team truly your own is part of the fun and some unique animations for your team would go a long way.

Uploadable team Logos – As you can see here at GRUMBBL, both myself and the ever talented Alx have created a number of custom logos for our teams. Please let us use these in Blood Bowl 3!!!!! Even if we just get some mod options to do so, we all would love to use our personalised logos for our league teams.

Visible player progression – This was a really cool part of Blood Bowl 1 and was strangely omitted from Blood Bowl 2, I hope they bring it back.

Sportspress integration – It’ll never happen, but it sure as hell would make my life easier when it comes to managing the website xD!

That’s it! I’m sure there are a few things I’ve missed, feel free to comment below your own wishes for Blood Bowl 3! In a way I am looking forward to it, ever since the updated TableTop rules, I’ve been hoping we’d get an update to match GW’s version. If it takes a 3rd iteration to do so then so be it, although I have a feeling my bank account may be reeling at the thought of yet more team packs and legendary editions.
